American Isner wins in Auckland

AUCKLAND, New Zealand — American John Isner won the Heineken Open for his first ATP Tour singles title, beating France’s Arnaud Clement 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (2) on Saturday.

The 6-foot-9 Isner had 22 aces and only two double faults in the match.

Also, Marcus Daniell became the first New Zealander in 11 years to win an ATP Tour doubles title, teaming with Romania’s Horia Tecau to beat Brazilians Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares 7-5, 6-4.
