MELBOURNE - The Australian team is going to be in energy-saving mode ahead of forthcoming tours and has rested Shane Watson and Brad Haddin for the limited-overs series.

Watson has been rested for the second time in a week after his absence from the Pakistan limited-overs matches in Perth.

His place has been taken by Adam Voges, while Tasmanian Tim Paine will again stand in for Haddin, as well as open the batting, The Age reports.

“After a busy international summer, and with an upcoming tour of New Zealand in mind, the [selectors have] taken the opportunity to manage the workloads of Brad Haddin and Shane Watson for the next two matches of the Commonwealth Bank Series,” chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch said. (ANI)
