Criticising selectors costs Akhtar dearly

LAHORE - Speaking against the selectors has cost temperamental Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar dearly, as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has deducted seven million rupees as fine from his match fee for 2009.
Akhtar received only 44,971 rupees as match fees for 2009, The Daily Times reports.
Akhtar was due to receive 7,044,971 from his central contract fee, match fees and win bonuses for January to November 2009. However, PCB spokesperson Nadeem Sarwar said the board has sent a cheque of only 44, 971, as the rest of the amount has been deducted as fine.
The Rawalpindi Express was slapped with a ban of five years and a hefty fine in April 2008 for breaching the board’s code of conduct.
Later, the Lahore High Court suspended Akhtar’s ban but did not rule on the fine. (ANI)
