VANCOUVER, CANADA (GaeaTimes.com)- The men’s double luge competition at the Winter Olympic in Vancouver was won by the Linger brothers, Wolfgang Linger and Andreas Linger. This win meant that the Luger brothers from Austria become the world champions in the men’s double luge event for the second time in a row. In 2006 also they had won the men’s double luge championship at the Winter Olympics that was held in Turin. The second place was taken by Andris Sics and Juris Sics, siblings from Latvia. The bronze was taken away by Alexander Resch and Patrick Leitner of Germany.

The win of Wolfgang Linger and Andreas Linger also means that Germany missed out on taking away all the luge medals in this year’s Winter Olympics. They have already won the gold in the men’s and women’s categories. The men’s title was won by Felix Loch and Tatjana Huefner took away the gold in women’s category. Needless to say, both Wolfgang Linger and Andreas Linger were elated to have won the men’s double luge competition in the Winter Olympics 2010.

The win by Wolfgang Linger and Andreas Linger in the men’s double luge competition came at only about a fraction of a second. They managed to finish the race in 1 minute and 22.705 seconds, leaving behind the siblings from Latvia by less than a second. Andreas Linger commented that it was a great experience both for him and his younger brother Wolfgang Linger to win the competition four years after they had won it in Turin. Wolfgang Linger added that they would surely be partying to celebrate their win in the men’s double luge in the Winter Olympics.
