VANCOUVER, CANADA (GaeaTimes.com)- Ashleigh McIvor turned out to be the winner in the women’s ski cross in the Winter Olympics that is being held in Vancouver, in Canada. Haling from the host country, that is, Canada, Ashleigh McIvor’s win of the gold makes it the sixth to have been won by Canada in this year’s Winter Olympics. This win definitely comes as a big thing for Ashleigh McIvor, considering that she had participated in the Winter Olympics along with her boyfriend Chris Del Bosco, the very same person who had failed to win a gold at the ski cross for men just two days back.

Later on, standing before the press giving one interview after the other, Ashleigh McIvor was basking in the glory of her win. She admitted, frankly, that as she stood in the starting gate of the course, she felt that all her life, she was waiting for this one moment. In fact, she admitted feeling that everything that she had done before that led up to that one moment when she was about to embark on the race.

In the aftermath of the race, Ashleigh McIvor seemed confident, her poise exuding the foreknowledge that she would have won. This seemed all the more prominent when she commented that the best person to represent ski racing in Canada would be someone from Whistler, referring to the neighborhood she grew up in. In fact, her confidence does not seem misplaced if one looks at how she performed in the race. Opening up a lead quite early in the race, Ashleigh McIvor never lost it, despite the race being a pretty closely contested one.
