White to consider putting Sheffield Shield ahead of IPL

NAPIER - Australian all-rounder Cameron White will consider delaying his stint with the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Bangalore Royal Challengers, so that he can lead Victoria in the Sheffield Shield final.
White’s decision to play for the Bushrangers could rule him out of the first five of 14 home-and-away fixtures in the IPL, and the absence could result in a hefty pay cut of at least 200,000 dollars.
“‘I can play in the Shield final and then go to the IPL if that’s what I choose to do. But I don’t have to do anything for another month yet. I’m not interested in making a decision either way just at the moment,” The Sydney Morning Herald quoted White, as saying.
“I’ll just take all the security information in and see what happens,” he added.
On a pro rata basis, White’s 500,000 dollar IPL contract would be slashed by almost 180,000 dollars if he stays loyal to his state, whereas he will only get 3900 dollars from the Bushrangers.
White’s desire to play the Shield final, let alone get to Bangalore, will be quashed if he sneaks into Australia’s Test squad at the back-end of the five-week tour of New Zealand.
“I’m not sure if the Test team would want me to get 60 off 20 balls. All I can do is hopefully stay in a bit of form and give myself a chance,” White said.
“The Test team is in pretty good form so it’s going to be a pretty hard team to get into. But I want to play all forms of the game for Australia. That’s what I want to do,” he added. (ANI)
