New Hampshire musher wins 3rd Can-Am Crown
FORT KENT, Maine — New Hampshire musher Matt Carstens won his third Can-Am Crown, capturing the 250-mile sled dog race across northern Maine.
Carstens finished in 26 hours, 3 minutes, 30 seconds, about 15 minutes ahead of Ryan Anderson of Ray, Minn. Nathan Schroeder of Chisholm, Minn., took third.
Carstens, of Whitefield, N.H., also won last year and in 2006.
The race takes the dogsled teams across the wilderness of northern Maine, and the mushers kept a swift pace despite less-than-ideal weather, with temperatures reaching the mid-40s.
