Bobby Gonzalez Fired By Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE (GaeaTimes.com)- Seton Hall ended their extended contract with Bobby Gonzalez on Wednesday. The Seton Hall University President Monsignor Robert Sheeran has said that the basketball coach has been informed of the decision by the authority. Bobby Gonzalez was however not available for any comment on the matter.

Bobby Gonzalez was fired from the position after the Seton Hall’s 87-69 loss in the opening round of the NIT. The coach under whose guidance the team has won many games was fired after he on the last game gained this season’s seventh technical foul. However on Wednesday as the decision was made public the University Law School dean Patrick Hobbs asserted that the University wants its players and coaches to perform well both on and off the field. He mentioned that the University expects that its players will behave properly with anybody they interact with. He suggested that the decision was taken keeping in mind Bobby Gonzalez’s in-field and off-field behavior which has got many allegations of ill-repute.

Monsignor Robert Sheeran mentioned in the conference that the decision to fire Bobby Gonzalez was taken by him keeping in mind the well being of the University. He mentioned that he had reportedly said to Bobby Gonzalez that he has lost confidence in the latter’s ability as a coach for Seton Hall Basketball team. Bobby Gonzalez though was not available for any comment, Monsignor Robert Sheeran said that the coach, when informed of the decision remained calm and professional. Though Bobby Gonzalez has made many contributions to the team’s success, he was not able to lead the team to the NCAA tournament.
