Surinder Kaur to lead Indian team in New Zealand

NEW DELHI - Surinder Kaur will lead the Indian women’s hockey team to New Zealand for a five Test series May 13-24.

Kaur replaces Subhadra Pradhan, who led the side during India’s dismal tours of Japan and China last month.

Deepika Murthy, who stepped in for Yogita Bali, and E. Rajini are the two goalkeepers in the side.

The series, to be played at Palmerston North, Wellington is a buildup to India’s preparations for the women’s World Cup at Rosario, Argentina in August.

The trials for the selection were conducted April 17-18 at Bhopal.

Defenders: Binita Toppo, Subhadra Pradhan, Joydeep Kaur

Midfielders: Ritu Rani, Mukta Barla, Deepika Thakur, Kirandeep Kaur, Rosalin Ralte
