PITTSBURGH (GaeaTimes.com)- Ohio State University linebacker Thaddeus Gibson was on Saturday drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers during the fourth round pick. Though a fourth round No.116 overall draft pick, Thaddeus Gibson became the first Buckeye player to get drafted this year during the three-day NFL Draft.

The Ohio State University player, Thaddeus Gibson is considered as a strong defender along the scrimmage line. The 240-pounds and 6-foot-2 player had shown great performances during all the three events at the combine in Indianapolis. He had impressed many with his defense skill but many others feel that Thaddeus Gibson is not dexterous enough in making a play on the open field which he would be needed to do in the Pittsburgh Steelers team. He had completed a 40-yards dash in 4.58 and 4.59 seconds. In his career till now, Thaddeus Gibson has managed to have 29 1/2 sacks. The agent of Thaddeus Gibson was hopeful that the player will get drafted in the third or fourth round of the NFL Draft this year. Though reports claim that the agent thought that the New Orleans Saints would be drafting the player, the daft interest came from the Pittsburgh Steelers and it was never unwelcome.

The Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin on Saturday told the media sources that the inclusion of the Thaddeus Gibson will not only increase the quality of the depth but also lead to a competition in the linebacker position. Mike Tomlin also maintained that Thaddeus Gibson fits well in the team’s mold that has been riding high on wins. The team is now looking forward to the player’s contribution to the outside linebacker position of the team.
