Graham’s relief group: 3 workers abducted in Sudan

RALEIGH, N.C. — The U.S. relief organization operated by evangelist Franklin Graham says three of the group’s workers have been abducted by armed men in the Darfur region of Sudan.

Samaritan’s Purse said in a statement Tuesday afternoon that the missing workers include two Sudanese men and a 36-year-old woman from California. The Boone, N.C.-based group said it was working with U.S. and Sudanese officials to secure the safe return of the staff members.

The organization would not release more details in fear of endangering the workers.

Samaritan’s Purse says it has provided $83.7 million in assistance to Sudan over the past decade.

Other relief workers including from the Red Cross have been abducted in the Darfur region.
