Favre surgery wasn’t much of a surprise to Vikings

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Brett Favre’s recent decision to have surgery on his left ankle gave the Minnesota Vikings more reason to believe he’ll be their quarterback again this season.

Favre posted confirmation of the arthroscopic procedure on his personal website last Friday. He hasn’t officially told the team he’ll be back, but the vibe around the Vikings is strongly suggesting he will return.

Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said after Thursday’s practice he wasn’t surprised that Favre had surgery. But Bevell insisted his last conversation with the 40-year-old star was not related to football.

Favre’s future has been up in the air since the Vikings lost in the NFC championship game in January. He’s coming off what he has called the best season of his 19-year career.
