CHICAGO (GaeaTimes.com)- Marian Hossa turned out to be the winner of the Stanley Cup. This was the third time that he had come this close to winning the Cup, and thankfully, this time he succeeded. He had also been this far two times before, once in 2008, against the Pittsburgh Penguins, and again just the next year against the Detroit Red Wings. This time therefore, it is not surprising that he was rather incredulous at first when he heard that he was the winner of the Stanley Cup. In fact, he first turned to check with an official that it was certainly a game wining goal that he had scored.
Marian Hossa also went on to say that he had never really lost faith in himself, despite the fact that he had been facing one disappointment after the other. All the frustration of not making it earlier seemed to seep away from him after he was confirmed that he had actually scored a game winning goal, and he ran the length of the ice in sheer joy. Needless to say it was a great moment for he winger with the Blackhawks, or being this close to winning the trophy and not making it had obviously come as a great pain to him.
The coach of the Chicago Blackhawks, Joel Quenneville said that he felt that the Stanley Cup had finally found the right recipient, after a long time, in Marian Hossa, and also went on to say that he had been a great factor in winning the game, even if one does not count the game winning goal. The captain of the team also said that he felt that it was pretty obvious that Marian Hossa will be winning the Stanley Cup.
