Penn State’s Paterno says health is fine
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Penn State coach Joe Paterno says his health is just fine after illness forced him to miss a few appearances.
The 83-year-old Hall of Famer had canceled at least three appearances outside of State College over the last month, including a trip to the Big Ten meetings in May, because of a lingering intestinal bug.
But Paterno did stop by Friday at Penn State’s inaugural women-only football camp at Beaver Stadium. He said his problems have stemmed from an overreaction to antibiotics prescribed to him before some recent dental work.
He said if this was the regular season and his team was getting ready for a road game, that he’d be “ready to go tomorrow.”
