France and Mexico level at 0-0 after 15 minutes
POLOKWANE, South Africa — Mexico looked lively and dangerous in a face-paced opening against France though the sides were level at 0-0 after 15 minutes of a World Cup match on Thursday.
After France had the early possession, Mexico broke through in the 3rd minute but Giovani Dos Santos strayed offside before his low shot struck the far post.
France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris had to rush to the edge of his area to clear in the fifth as Dos Santos closed in on Patrice Evra’s weak backpass.
Three Mexican attackers ran clear of a static French defense in the eighth but Carlos Vela’s left-foot shot went high.
Carlos Salcido’s 30-yard pass found Guillermo Franco but his curled shot also cleared the crossbar.
Both sides drew their opening matches in Group A.
