Brazil leads Ivory Coast 1-0 after 60 minutes
JOHANNESBURG — Luis Fabiano scored two goals to give Brazil a 2-0 lead over Ivory Coast at the World Cup following 60 minutes of play at Soccer City.
The Brazil striker put the five-time champions in front in the 25th minute, getting a through ball from Kaka and sending a hard shot from close range past goalkeeper Boubacar Barry. He added the second in the 50th, beating Siaka Tiene and shooting past Barry.
Replays appeared to show Luis Fabiano handled the ball, possibly twice, on the second goal.
Ivory Coast controlled much of the early possession, but Brazil soon took over as striker Didier Drogba struggled to get involved in the play. Drogba still had the team’s best chance when he headed wide a cross from Aruna Dindane in the 54th.
