Brazil leads Ivory Coast 1-0 after 30 minutes
JOHANNESBURG — With 30 minutes played at Soccer City, Brazil leads Ivory Coast 1-0 on a goal by Luis Fabiano.
The Brazil striker beat goalkeeper Boubacar Barry in the 25th minute for his first goal in six matches. a shot high into the net from short range.
Brazil striker Robinho had two attempts at goal earlier, but both were well off the target.
Ivory Coast controlled much of the early possession, and Cheick Tiote sent a through ball into the area in the seventh minute. But it was too strong for Didier Drogba to reach.
Drogba was playing in his second match since breaking his right arm in a warmup game on June 4. He came on as a late substitute in Ivory Coast’s 0-0 draw with Portugal on Tuesday.
