Chile, Switzerland 0-0 at halftime
PORT ELIZABETH, South Africa — Chile enjoyed the bulk of the possession against 10-man Switzerland but the teams were tied 0-0 at halftime of Monday’s Group H match at the World Cup.
Chile pressed hard for a goal after Swiss midfielder Valon Behrami was sent off in the 31st minute. Alexis Sanchez had the best chance in the 40th, but his tame shot was saved by Swiss goalkeeper Diego Benaglio.
Forward Humberto Suazo, who missed the first match against Honduras with a left thigh injury, headed over the net in the 39th minute.
The South Americans had enjoyed the bulk of the chances before the ejection. Switzerland has yet to have a dangerous scoring chance.
Both teams won their first matches.
