Cameroon, Netherlands at 1-1 after 75 minutes
CAPE TOWN, South Africa — Samuel Eto’o scored from the penalty spot and Cameroon is tied with the Netherlands 1-1 after 75 minutes of their Group E World Cup match.
Eto’o converted the penalty in the 65th minute after Dutch midfielder Rafael van der Vaart was whistled for using his hands to block Geremi’s free kick.
Robin van Persie’s first-half goal had given the Netherlands the lead, scoring from a tight angle after a neat one-two with Van der Vaart.
Neither team played with urgency. Netherlands already has qualified for the second round, while Cameroon is already out.
Netherlands winger Arjen Robben came on in the 73rd minute for his first appearance of the World Cup.
