NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com)- The NBA Champions Los Angeles Lakers picked Devin Ebanks as the 43rd overall pick in the NBA Drafts 2010 in New York City. The 6′9″, 215 pound small forward and defender has played two seasons with the Mountaineers and has an average of 11.2 points. He was the Los Angeles Lakers only other pick apart from 58th overall pick Derrick Caracter.
Devin Ebanks said after the selection that he was extremely happy to be picked by the champion side. He said he was especially thrilled to get the opportunity to play along side the greatest basketball player in the world, Kobe Bryant. As a resident of Queens, Devin Ebanks has seen the NBA stars up close, and playing alongside them is a dream come true for him. He said that his uncle grew up with Lamar Odom. He also added that he lives just two minutes away from Ron Artest and ten minutes from Lamar Odom. About himself, Devin Ebanks said that he had a lot to learn about the NBA and he is glad that he has got the opportunity to play with a team like the Los Angeles Lakers. In the press conference, he revealed to the reporters that he will try to learn from the veterans and hopes that his career will take off from there.
The Los Angeles Lakers’ general manager Mitch Kupchak said that Devin Ebanks has great potential and would add to the side’s defence. Mitch Kupchak also explained that he could be a good back up for Ron Artest in the side because of the uncertainty surrounding Luke Walton’s back injury and his availability for the up coming season. There are however no guarantees about the fact whether Devin Ebanks and Derrick Caracter will make the final roster for the Los Angeles Lakers.
