US, Ghana at 1-1 75 minutes into WCup match
RUSTENBURG, South Africa — Landon Donovan scored from the penalty spot for the United States to event its World Cup second-round match with Ghana at 1-1 after 75 minutes.
Donovan sidefooted into the net off the right goalpost in the 62nd minute after Clint Dempsey was fouled in the penalty area by Jonathan Mensah.
Kevin-Prince Boateng put Ghana ahead in the 5th minute with a low shot from the edge of the area after race through unchallenged from the halfway line. U.S. midfielder Ricardo Clark had lost the ball there.
The winner will meet Uruguay on Friday.
