United States brings back Findley and picks Clark, while Ghana changes 1 for WCup 2nd round

US brings back Findley for 2nd round against Ghana

RUSTENBURG, South Africa — The United States has made two changes to its lineup for Saturday’s second-round World Cup match against Ghana.

Coach Bob Bradley restores forward Robbie Findley to the starting lineup in place of Herculez Gomez and brings in midfielder Ricardo Clark for Maurice Edu.

Findley was suspended for the Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Algeria, which took the Americans through to the round of 16.

Captain Carlos Bocanegra will again play in central defense after switching from left back for the final group match.

Ghana makes one change as it seeks to become the third African team make a World Cup quarterfinals. Samuel Inkoom replaces Prince Tagoe, who has a yellow card against him and would miss the next round if he picks up another and Ghana wins.

The winner of the match at Royal Bafokeng Stadium will meet Uruguay on Friday in Johannesburg.

Three players in each starting 11 already have yellow cards and will miss the quarterfinal if they get another. For the United States, they are forward Jozy Altidore and defenders Jay DeMerit and Steve Cherundolo. For Ghana, it’s defender Jonathan Mensah and midfielders Anthony Annan and Andre Ayew.
