New York (GaeaTimes.com) Brazil’s quest for another world cup came to an end as Netherlands cam back and scored two goals after they were behind 1-0 in the half time from Robinho’s early goal in Port Elizabeth. The South American’s unbeaten status came to an end as they were knocked out of the FIFA World Cup 2010 by the Dutch.
Netherland equalized with Felipe Melo’s own goal and Wesley Sneijder headed for the winner. There was 22 minutes remaining in that game for Brazil to score an equalizer so that they could drag it to the penalty shoot out but they failed to find the equalizer.
This win is Holland’s fifth straight win in the World Cup 2010 and they need one more win to get to the World Cup Finals. They will be the favorites against Uruguay or Ghana whoever win in this quarter final to be held today at 2:30 p.m. ET. If the Dutch reach the finals, it will be their first appearance in the finals after they finished runners up twice in the 1970s.
During the first half, Brazil seemed to dominate the game as Robinho had broke a deadlock in the tenth minute which was ruled as offside. Robinho scored off a Felipe Melo’s straight pass through the centre of the Dutch defense. At the 26th minute Brazil came close to a second from a corner shot.
The Dutch drew level in the 53rd minute as Julio Cesar and Felipe Melo got in each other’s way when the midfielder flicked the ball onto the net. The Dutch soon had their second from the head of Sneijder.

Wesley Sneijder may resemble Joran van der Sloot physically but there the difference ends. One represents the best of a nation and the other the worst. And let Holland win the World Cup 2010 against Spain and let Joran rot in jail forever! HUP HOLLAND HUP!! |
