England were better opponents than Argentina: Lahm

LONDON - German skipper Philipp Lahm has provided some comfort to England fans by saying that the Three Lions were better opponent than Argentina.
Asked if England should be considered better than the Argies because they only lost 4-1 to the brilliant young Germans, Lahm said: “You scored two goals!”
Lahm accepted Frank Lampard’s effort was over the line in Bloemfontein last Sunday, but added: “I said England are a good team - but you saw again that the better team wins against the better players.”
Distraught Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez summed up Argentina feelings when he said: “We have some of the top players in the world. Germany doesn’t have top players and Holland doesn’t have top players, but they won their games and made it as a team.”
Maradona was a broken man at the end, crying along with Messi unable to comprehend it all, The Sun reports.
“I may leave but I would like these boys to go on showing the real Argentine football,” he said.
“I will be 50 on October 30. I’m mature. This is the toughest moment in my life. Having so many good people, players, professionals… this is a kick in the face. I have no more energy for anything.” (ANI)
