ANAHEIM (GaeaTimes.com)- At the Angel Stadium on Monday night Hanley Ramirez who plays for the Florida Marlins ended up holding the position of the runner-up. The player displayed some brilliant shots in the first two rounds of the game but failed to maintain the same performance in the final round that provided a lead to David Ortiz who went on to win the Home Run Derby trophy for the first time.
Hanley Ramirez on Monday played shots at his convenient section. He drove the balls over the left-field wall. Although in the first round it was Corey Hart who came up with the maximum home runs, Hanley Ramirez was the next to lead with nine homers in the opening round. Ortiz followed with eight homers. In the second round while Corey Hart failed to show yet another magic, Hanley Ramirez had a good time hitting 12 homers. In the second round however the scores of both David Ortiz and Hanley Ramirez remained tied increasing the excitement of the game.
Hanley Ramirez failed to connect in the last round of the Home Run Derby. The player hit three straight but ended up missing six of his last seven swings. Hanley Ramirez managed to score 25 in total leading to the success of David Ortiz who continued to with his powerful swings even in the last round. However, like a true sportsman Hanley Ramirez accepted his defeat and congratulated David Ortiz. He also added that the latter was in need of this win as he has passed through a bad patch in his professional life.
