Lookin At Lucky runs away with Haskell

OCEANPORT, N.J. — Lookin At Lucky has blown away a star-studded field in the $1 million Haskell Invitational at New Jersey’s Monmouth Park to establish himself as the leading 3-year old in the country.

The Preakness winner surged to the lead around the far turn Sunday and ran away from Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver as well as Preakness runner-up First Dude and Trappe Shot.

Lookin At Lucky won by four lengths over Trappe Shot and covered the 1 1-8 miles in 1:49.83 over a fast track. First Dude was third and Super Saver fourth in the seven-horse field.

The Haskell featured a Derby and a Preakness winner for the first time in its 43-year history.

With the win, Hall of Famer Bob Baffert becomes the first trainer to win the Haskell four times.
