WASHINGTON (GaeaTimes.com)- Sources hailing from the National Football League have revealed that nose tackle Albert Haynesworth is suffering from the condition rhabdomyolysis. Speculations about the medical condition of the 29-year-old player had been quite abuzz since the defensive tackle missed the practice sessions of the team which were held last week for three days in a row. The assumptions surrounding the reasons which compelled Albert Haynesworth to stay away from the training sessions attracted all the more attention after coach Mike Shanahan gave varying insights about the player’s medical condition. Initially the Washington Redskins coach stated that Albert Haynesworth was away from the game as he ‘just was sick’ and then went on to cite dehydration as the reason. However, later the coach said that the reason was “more of a headache than anything else.”
On Saturday, after the Washington Redskins suffered a humiliating defeat against the Baltimore Ravens, Albert Haynesworth lashed out at his team’s coach saying that Mike Shanahan had misrepresented his medical condition by citing it to be a mere headache without revealing the actual nature of his ailment. However, NFL sources have divulged that the player was sidelined from the practice sessions as he is confronting symptoms of rhabdomyolysis, a condition in which the muscle fibers are damaged and is followed by the release of the contents of muscle fibers in the bloodstream.
In the meanwhile, experts have expressed hope that Albert Haynesworth has been able to recover from rhabdomyolysis as he played during Saturday night’s preseason game. According to reports, Mike Shanahan would be addressing the media after Monday’s practice session.
