Kelly’s offense needs no commercial
SOUTH BEND, Ind. — New Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly is bringing a no-huddle offense to the Irish this season and wants to make sure no one misses plays or slows down his hurry-up system. And that includes NBC.
Kelly says he’s talked with network officials about the rapid pace of his offense vs. the network’s need to air commercials. He wouldn’t reveal specifics of those conversations Tuesday other than to say he expects the school and the network will find some middle ground. NBC has had a deal with Notre Dame since 1991.
On another topic, Kelly says linebacker Anthony McDonald, who hyperextended a knee in practice last week, is doubtful to play in the season opener Sept. 4 against Purdue.
