Canada’s Wickenheiser: 2014 Olympics will be last
TORONTO — Canadian women’s hockey star Hayley Wickenheiser says the 2014 Sochi Olympics will be her last on the national team.
The four-time Olympian made the announcement Thursday at the world hockey summit in Toronto.
The 32-year-old forward has been a member of the Canadian team for 17 years. She was captain of the Olympic team that won gold at the Vancouver Games. The Canadian women defeated the United States 2-0 for their third straight Olympic title.
Wickenheiser is a keynote speaker at the summit. Topics at the summit include concussions, player safety and strengthen the women’s game.
