LONDON - Tennis star Venus Williams, infamous for her dressing sense, appeared in a red sequined tennis dress that resembles New York fireworks in her match against Shahar Peer at the U.S. Open.
The No. 3 seed’s sequin-covered tennis dresses in this year’s U.S. Open, have put her squarely in the cross hair of the fashion police.
“So far this year my outfits have been based on the cities that I play in. This outfit was supposed to be about New York. It’s like bursts of fireworks,” the New York Daily News quoted Venus as telling fans.
Previously, she wore a black sequined dress in her match against Mandy Minella.
The 30-year-old who designs and sells her own clothing line, EleVen has often raised eyebrows in the past.
“They could be more sophisticated,” the New York Daily News quoted David Rosenberg, a tennis fashion historian, as saying of Venus’ outfits.
Venus has worn different dresses for each of her three appearances so far in the current tournament, and hopes to continue that trend as far as the final.
She has three other outfits to unveil if she makes it to the finals, she said. (ANI)

I really would like to know, why, with ALL the money she has, she looks like a hooker on the tennis court ?? Honestly could she not wear something a little more professional ?? Instead of looking like she is ready to go clubbing, could she not look like she was ready to go play tennis ?? |
