LANDOVER (GaeaTimes.com)-On Monday the fifth seeded Boise State football opened their season against the 6th seeded Virginia Tech University team and after a game that was marred to a large extent by penalties, mistakes and team blunders, the former came forward with a great touchdown pass at the very last minute to mark a 33-30 victory over the latter. The victory has given the Boise State football team a much needed boost and strengthened their position in the Bowl Championship Series.

Although it would be wrong to say that the Virginia State University team did not try its best to win the game; in football even the last minute is as crucial as the first, and on Monday night it was the last few seconds that made all the difference. In the first quarter of the game it was the Boise State team that swept the field with a marvelous 17-0 lead as the Virginia Tech University team grappled with mistakes, penalties and team gaffes. The Virginia Tech University in the first quarter rushed for five yards and gave opportunity for two touchdowns to Boise State football team. Trailing by 17, Virginia Tech University football team returned with renewed energy and by fourth quarter of the game it was leading by 4 points.

However, victory kissed the feet of Boise State football team when with just 1:09 left for the game, Austin Pettis went for a 13-yard touchdown pass from Kellen Moore and finished just on time to get the three point winning lead. However, the win is only the beginning and Boise State team is now looking forward to the Sep 25 game with the Oregon State team.
