Miami (Ohio) takes down Eastern Michigan 28-21
OXFORD, Ohio — Miami (Ohio) running back Thomas Merriweather scored three touchdowns, including the game-winning score in the fourth quarter, as the Redhawks came from behind to beat Eastern Michigan 28-21 on Saturday in the Mid-American Conference opener.
Merriweather scored the game’s first touchdown on 23-yard run to give Miami (Ohio) (1-1, 1-0) a 7-0 lead.
The two teams traded scores over the next two quarters until Eastern Michigan (0-2, 0-1) took a 21-14 lead on a 40-yard touchdown pass from Alex Gillett to wideout Kinsman Thomas with 6:43 remaining in the third quarter.
A 20-yard touchdown run from Merriweather late in the third quarter tied the score at 21-21.
Miami (Ohio) would take the lead for good after Merriweather’s 9-yard touchdown run with 9:03 remaining in the game.
Thomas finished with four receptions for 133 yards and two scores for the Eagles.
