KANSAS CITY (GaeaTimes.com)- On Monday San Diego Charger’s quarterback Philip Rivers was one such player who caught the attention of football fanatics who braved the rains to watch the team play against the Kansas City Chiefs. The quarterback not only displayed an amazing speed but also tactics that were both impressive and promising. Philip Rivers in total threw 298 yards, completed 22 of the total 39 passes successfully and also added two touchdowns on Monday night.
Few will disagree to the fact that Philip Rivers out-shined Kansas City Chief’s quarterback Matt Cassel. It was due to him that the offense line of the San Diego Chargers emerged with some strong play on Monday night. The quarterback went for a 60-yard scoring drive and then capped it with a three-yard touchdown pass to wide-open player Antonio Gates. The latter went for a 34-yard reception on third down and was stopped by the opponent at the 5 to set up a touchdown. The touchdown provided the San Diego Chargers with an early lead of 7-0 over Kansas City Royals.
While the Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Matt Cassel completed only 8 of 17 for 48 yards during the first three quarters of the game, Philip Rivers played a more crucial role in his team’s play by completing 22 of 39 passes. In the second half of the game, while the San Diego Chargers were trailing behind the Kansas City Chiefs by 14 points, it was once again Philip Rivers who came up with a 59-yard touchdown pass to Legedu Naanee who completed the touchdown to add seven more points to the team’s score. Towards the end of the game with just a minute remaining, Philip Rivers took another attempt and ran down to the Kansas City six but failed to find the end zone.
