KANSAS CITY (GaeaTimes.com)- It was some of the new players of the Kansas City Chiefs who on Monday night emerged with flying colors against the San Diego Chargers. Among some of the players who caught the attention of the fans and the team management was rookie wide receiver Dexter McCluster who not only played a major role in the success of his team but also went on to create a new club record with his punt return. Bringing an end to the three-year long darkness that surrounded the Kansas City Chiefs, Dexter McCluster along with Jamaal Charles led the team to a season opening 21-14 win over San Diego Chargers.

However, Dexter McCluster was not the first to add to the team’s score. The Kansas City Chiefs who were trailing the San Diego Chargers by 7 point towards the end of the first quarter went on to equal it with a 56 yard touchdown run by Jamaal Charles. Before the touchdown of Jamaal Charles, the team had failed to make a first down from their first two possessions. It was in the second quarter of the game that Dexter McCluster came forward with his amazing punt return which left the stadium cheering loud. Rookie Dexter McCluster returned the a 94-yard punt to create a team record. The previous record of 93-yard punt return was held by Dante Hall who created it on Oct.5 2003 against the Denver Broncos.

Dexter McCluster with his brilliant 94-yard punt return proved on Monday night that he is a player on which the team can pile hopes. From his performance many critics have voiced that he could not only emerge as a promising wide receiver but also as a running back.
