SAN DIEGO (GaeaTimes.com) — San Diego Chargers got the shock of the lifetime when they lost to Kansas City Chiefs by 14-21 on the opening weekend of the NFL season last night.

The Chargers were the favorites for the game. But the night was highlighted by a club record 94-yard punt return from rookie speedster Dexter McCluster that staked Kansas City to a 21-7 halftime lead. Chargers couldn’t recover from this blow later in the game.

The monsoon dampened the party mood, but it was also a major factor in the outcome of the match. Chargers were seen to struggling in the wet ground of the field while Kansas stormed away the entire match. Due to a loose formation and a weak defense, Kansas got plenty of chances to score. But a strong defense from their side stopped all the attacks from the Charger side.

The Chiefs, who have won just six games in the last two years, now find themselves on top of the division standings for one week at least with San Diego, Oakland and Denver.
