Texas reserve tailback ineligible
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas senior tailback Vondrell McGee has been declared academically ineligible and will not play this season.
Coach Mack Brown said Wednesday that the former starting tailback lost his appeal to the NCAA but remains enrolled at Texas and is on schedule to graduate in December.
McGee did not play in No. 6 Texas’ first two games. He played in 35 games in his career, starting seven, and rushed for 973 yards and 14 touchdowns.
