Daniel Covington Passes Away

LOUISVILLE (GaeaTimes.com)- Daniel Covington, the former University of Louisville football player was killed in downtown Louisville last Thursday after a physical fight resulted into fatal gunfire. Rita Taylor, the Jefferson County Deputy said that the player was taken to University Hospital yesterday morning after he suffered two gun shot wounds, one on his left arm and other on his torso. However, the doctors said that he breathed his last at around 3 a.m.
Director of Athletics, Tom Jurich said that University of Louisville and its members are shocked and deeply saddened to learn of this tragic event. He also added that it is very painful to see this accident happened to a member of their “athletic” family. However, he then maintained that every one of the team and the University extend their deepest sympathies to to Daniel Covington’s family and friends. Louisville Police Lt.Barry Wilkerson said that Daniel Covington was shot after a confrontation with two men in another car. However, the police officer said that the fight might have stemmed from previous quarrel.
Daniel Covington was a former football player at Lexington’s Tates Creek High School. He even played two seasons at safety for Arizona Cardinals and he managed to finish 66 tackles in 2008 and collected 20 tackles in 10 games in 2009. Rebecca Covington, the older sister of Daniel Covington said that her brother had the dream to play in the NFL. She even added that her brother was a hard worker and he gave his 100 percent in everything he did and she was really proud of him. The Police are presently in investigating about the matter. Daniel Covington is survived by his mother Donna Covington; father Virgil Covington Jr., his sister, brother, sister-in-law and his niece.
