India’s Rohan Bopanna Felled By Thomaz Bellucci at The Davis Cup

NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com) — India’s challenge for the Davis Cup started off in an highly inauspicious manner. Thomaz Bellucci beat Indian hopeful Rohan Bopanna in the Davis Cup World Group play-off tie. Not to demean Rohan’s effort as he brought the fight to the 22 year old Brazillian. The match went on for more than four and a half hours. The score line read 7-6 (7), 7-5, 4-6, 10-8.

The flash of brilliance in Rohan we got to see in the in his superb doubles effort at the US open. His singles game still has a lot of scope for improvement despite his brave effort. On the other hand Bellucci’s win has lifted the spirits of the Brazil camp. They are now eyeing that elusive berth in the elite World Group.
