Norfolk State beats Virginia State 51-28
NORFOLK, Va. — DeAngelo Branche scored four touchdowns from less than two yards out as Norfolk State beat Virginia State 51-28 on Saturday night.
Branche scored on the Spartans (2-1) first play from scrimmage on a 2-yard run following a 66-yard punt return from Dwight Fluker-Berry.
On their next possession, a 46-yard pass from Chris Walley to Kelvin Lewis gave the Spartans the ball at the Virginia State 1-yard line. Branche scored his second touchdown of the game on the following play.
Branche added a 2-yard rushing score in the second quarter and a 1-yard touchdown run in the third.
Virginia State’s Antwain Lyde scored on a 6-yard run in the second quarter for the Trojans’ (2-1) only score of the first half.
Norfolk State led 34-7 at the half and put up 505 yards of total offense in the victory.
