Russ’ run lifts Robert Morris past Liberty 30-23
MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Myles Russ scored on a 12-yard run with 22 seconds left and Robert Morris defeated Liberty 30-23 on Saturday.
Liberty (2-1) tied it at 23 on a 29-yard field goal by Matt Bevins with 1:19 to go.
The Flames settled for three points after a run for no gain, a 1-yard pass to the Colonials’ 13-yard line and an incomplete pass stalled a drive within the red zone.
Robert Morris (2-1) quarterback Jeff Sinclair then orchestrated a six-play, 70-yard drive, which started with 1:19 left to play. Sinclair threw three straight passes to Shadrae King (6, 6 and 24 yards) before connecting with T.J. Green for 32 yards, setting up Russ’ game-winner.
Russ, the Northeast Conference’s active rushing leader, finished with 153 yards on 20 carries.
Mike Brown had 267 yards and two touchdowns on 24-for-40 passing, along with 77 yards on 16 carries.
