Under investigation, Armstrong stays in public eye

AUSTIN, Texas — Lance Armstrong just keeps rolling along.

While prosecutors examine his past as part of a federal investigation into drug use in pro cycling, the seven-time Tour de France winner is sticking to a relentless public schedule of charity bike rides, speeches, endorsements and meetings with policy groups.

He’s doing anything but hiding.

Public relations experts say that’s a good way for Armstrong to stay popular, or at least limit the damage from the doping probe. But some analysts say his image is taking a hit and surveys on Internet traffic about him show that Armstrong is struggling to completely shake doubts about his Tour victories.

Armstrong denies ever using performance-enhancing drugs.
