London, Sept.22 (ANI): Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra has claimed that French football chiefs are trying to finish his international career by banning him for five games.

Evra, 29, was handed out the ban for his role in a players’ mutiny during France’s disastrous summer World Cup campaign.

Evra was captain of the squad when it infamously refused to train before a key match at the World Cup in South Africa.

It resulted in a massive public bust-up between Evra and fitness coach Robert Duverne.

“I cannot fight with everyone. I’m in pain right now. Certain people want to cut my head off and they are managing to do it at the moment. It’s hard because I still don’t know why I’ve been condemned,” The Sun quoted Evra, as saying.

Chelsea’s Nicolas Anelka, who copped an 18-match ban, said: “These people are clowns.” (ANI)
