Tanguay has 2 assists as Flames top Canucks
CALGARY, Alberta — Alex Tanguay set up two goals — including Jarome Iginla’s game winner — in the Calgary Flames’ 3-2 split-squad preseason victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night.
With the score tied 2-2 in the third period, Tanguay sent Iginla down the right wing. The Flames captain then ripped a wrist shot over the glove of goalie Tyler Weiman.
Tanguay was also involved in the Flames’ first goal. With Calgary short-handed and trailing 1-0 in the second, Tanguay broke away on a 2-on-1 with Mikael Backlund and feathered a pass to the Swedish youngster, who deflected the puck past starting goalie Eddie Lack.
Ales Kotalik also scored for Calgary. Jannik Hansen and Marco Rosa had goals for the Canucks.
The remaining members from both teams played in Vancouver. Calgary won that one 3-1.
