Rice misses practice; status for Steelers unclear
OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice misses practice because of a bruised right knee.
His absence Wednesday left open the possibility that Willis McGahee will start this week’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
McGahee says he’s “up for the challenge,” expects Rice to play.
Rice walked in the locker room Wednesday without a noticeable limp, but the Ravens would not let him talk to the media.
Although McGahee hasn’t started a game since last October, he’s put up some impressive numbers as Rice’s backup, scoring 14 touchdowns last year and averaged five yards a carry.
Regardless of who starts, the Ravens (2-1) should have their hands full against the unbeaten Steelers (3-0) in this AFC North showdown.
