NEW DELHI - The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) is fully prepared to meet any challenges during the Commonwealth Games beginning Sunday, a top official said.

We have placed fire-fighting equipment, including fire retardants at all strategic locations, DFS Director R.C. Sharma said.

Sharma said besides installing the latest fire-fighting equipment, the DFS had planned and designed the layout of the venues for emergency movement during any eventuality.

Around 600 men and 32 fire engines have been dedicated to the venues to meet any challenges, Sharma said, adding: We don’t want to take any chance, however, miniscule in probability, with the Games, said Sharma.

The DFS has carefully laid out the evacuation plans and discussed these with officials and police personnel. A central control room and various other agencies would constantly exchange information with the on-field operatives to constantly monitor the situation.
