Jacksonville State remains unbeaten with 40-34 win over Murray State

Jacksonville State beats Murray State 40-34
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. — Jeffrey Cameron caught two touchdowns passes as Jacksonville State rallied from a two-touchdown deficit and hung on to defeat Murray State 40-34 Saturday night.
The Gamecocks (5-0, 2-0 Ohio Valley Conference) trailed 14-0 in the first quarter before Cameron caught a 65-yard touchdown pass from Coty Blanchard with 35 seconds left in the period.
Jacksonville State outscored Murray State (1-4, 1-2) 23-0 in the second quarter to take a 30-14 halftime lead.
After James Esco’s 35-yard field goal made it 14-10, Cameron caught a 60-yard touchdown pass from Marques Ivory. The Gamecocks then recovered an onside kick, and Ivory threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Jamal Young on the next play. Young also scored on a 47-yard run with 2:33 left in the half.
Murray State fell a yard short of converting a fourth-and-23 with 1:36 left, and missed a fourth-and-2 with 58 seconds left.
