Miami, Ohio beats Kent State 27-21
OXFORD, Ohio — Zac Dysert threw for 294 yards and one touchdown to help Miami of Ohio beat Kent State 27-21 on Saturday.
Dysert, who completed 31 of 46 passes, connected with Armand Robinson on a 3-yard touchdown to cut the lead to 14-10 with 2:31 left in the second quarter for the RedHawks (3-2, 2-0 Mid-American Conference).
Miami pulled ahead by three points and never trailed again when Thomas Merriweather scored on a 6-yard run. Merriweather finished with 54 yards rushing on 11 carries.
More than a minute later, Matt Rinehart’s punt was blocked by Miami defensive lineman Austin Brown — his third career block. Linebacker Evan Harris picked up the ball, returning it 18 yards to give the RedHawks more cushion with a 24-14 advantage.
Jacquise Terry ran for 86 yards on 23 attempts and two touchdowns for the Golden Flashes (1-3, 0-1).
