Wyoming goes on road to beat Toledo 20-15
TOLEDO, Ohio — Wide receiver David Leonard threw a 37-yard touchdown pass and Wyoming held off Toledo’s attempted rally in a 20-15 win on Saturday night.
The Cowboys (2-3) jumped out to a 14-0 lead after Alvester Alexander scored on a 13-yard run in the first quarter and Leonard followed with his passing score to Chris McNeill in the second.
Ian Watts made field goals from 32 and 34 yards away to put Wyoming ahead by 20 points with 7:55 left in the third quarter.
The Rockets (3-2) finally scored with 41 seconds left in the third after Johnie Roberts and Christian Smith tackled Alexander in the end zone for a safety. David Fluellen scored on a 6-yard run just three seconds into the fourth, cutting the lead to 20-9.
Adonis Thomas scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with 6:59 left in the game to pull the Rockets to within five points, but failed on the two-point conversion.
