HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Southern Miss football coach Larry Fedora has announced that running back Desmond Johnson has been suspended for Saturday’s Conference USA showdown against East Carolina.
In a statement from the school, Fedora says Johnson was suspended for a “violation of team policy.”
Johnson, a 5-foot-11, 195-pound sophomore, leads the Golden Eagles with 296 rushing yards and three touchdowns. He’s also caught a team high 14 passes.
Southern Miss (4-1, 1-0) hosts East Carolina (2-2, 2-0) at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at Roberts Stadium.
