SYDNEY - Australian fast bowler Peter Siddle will step up his Ashes campaign by spearheading Victorian Bushrangers’ attack against Western Australia in Saturday’s one-day cup clash.

Siddle, who is on the comeback trail from a back injury, has not played a Test since January, but is certain to roar back into calculations leading up to the Ashes opener in Brisbane on November 25.

Victorian Bushrangers captain David Hussey confirmed that the 25-year-old would take the field.

“He’ll definitely play and he’ll play in the Shield game (against Tasmania) on Monday. Hopefully he gets in the Test squad (for the Ashes opener on November 25 in Brisbane),” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Hussey, as saying.

“He has a phenomenal record (60 wickets in 17 Tests). He’s such a professional athlete now. He’s dropped three or four kilos,” he added.

Siddle was part of the 2009 Ashes series, which Australia lost 2-1. (ANI)
